Trickle Vents - What are they?

Changes to Part F of Building Regulations which came into effect on 15th June 2022 set the new standards for ventilation of new & existing building. It has been updated to ensure that sufficient levels of ventilation are still provided after replacement and new build windows are installed. Therefore a new range of compliant trickle vents were introduced to ensure your windows meet the new regulations. In short a minimum EA (Equivalent Area) must be achieved within habitable rooms.

Trickle vents are small openings installed either at the top of the window frame (slot vents) or in the glazed area just below the top of the frame (glazed-in vents). These vents can be easily opened and closed, enabling you to regulate the amount of fresh air entering your home for background ventilation.

Trickle vents offer a controlled amount of fresh air, which is especially beneficial during winter. They help to reduce condensation on windows and provide secure ventilation even when you are away from home.
